How it works

Safe Payments, Protected Every Time

SwagMzansi processes all payments through Paystack, a licensed payment service provider. Seller payouts are initiated after the buyer confirms receipt of their order in good condition. This ensures every buyer is protected and every seller is paid fairly.

Unlike bank transfers or informal payment methods, your money is never at risk. If your item does not arrive or is not as described, you can raise a dispute and we will investigate before any payout is made.

How Your Order is Protected

You make a payment

When you click “Buy Now” and complete payment via Paystack, your transaction is confirmed and the seller is notified of the sale. No payout is made to the seller at this stage.

Seller ships the item

The seller is required to dispatch your item within 3 business days and provide a tracking number. You can monitor the shipping status directly in your SwagMzansi Orders page.

You receive and confirm

Once your item arrives, you confirm receipt on SwagMzansi. At this point, the seller payout is processed. You have 48 hours from the courier’s marked delivery date to raise a dispute before the payout is automatically processed.

Dispute (if needed)

If there is a problem — the item did not arrive, arrived damaged, or was significantly different from the listing — you can raise a dispute within 48 hours of delivery. The seller payout is held pending investigation.

How to Raise a Dispute

If you are not satisfied with your purchase, follow these steps:

Step 1: Navigate to Orders in your account and find the relevant order.

Step 2: Click “Raise Dispute” and select your reason (item not received, item not as described, item damaged, etc.).

Step 3: Provide supporting evidence — photos, tracking information, or screenshots of the listing.

Step 4: Our team will review your dispute and contact both you and the seller within 2 business days.

Step 5: We aim to resolve all disputes within 5 business days of the dispute being raised.

What is covered

  • Item not received after 14 days
  • Item significantly different from description
  • Item is counterfeit or fake
  • Item damaged in transit
  • Wrong item received

What is not covered

  • Disputes raised after the 48-hour window
  • Change of mind returns (unless seller agrees)
  • Transactions conducted outside SwagMzansi
  • Items that match the listing description exactly
  • Damage caused by the buyer after receipt

Pricing

The Buyer Protection Fee

To fund the buyer protection programme and dispute resolution service, buyers pay a small Buyer Protection Fee of 6.5% of the item price, added at checkout. This fee covers:

  • Secure payment processing via Paystack
  • Dispute investigation and mediation by our team
  • Buyer protection on every order

The Buyer Protection Fee is non-refundable in all circumstances, including when a dispute results in a refund of the item price.
